It Go Boom!
62 years ago today, the Enola Gay dropped "Little Boy" on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The 13 kiloton bomb, comprised of 130 pounds of Uranium-235, detonated about 2000 feet above the city and instantly annihilated 70,000 people, with another 30,000 to die within 4 months from the effects of the bomb. Much more available from Wikipedia here, and also remember Pearl Harbor. The first, and along with "Fat Man" dropped on Nagasaki, only nuclear weapons ever to be used in warfare. Don't mess with the US.
Update: Bryan at Hot Air has more.
